With high upfront installation costs of solar energy systems, relatively long rate of return, and requirements of rooftop areas to install a system, most Palestinian families do not have the financial or spatial luxury of benifiting from savings from solar energy systems. And this is exactly where SHAMS-i comes in. Through a subscription based model, families, businesses, and NGOs can capture the benefits of solar energy by subscribing to SHAMS-i.
The monthly subscription model will credit your share from the electricity production of SHAMS-i farm to your electricity bill at a reduced price, and it will be offseted from your monthly electricity bill.
How Does it Work?
Once you subscribe to SHAMS-i, you will get credit of electricity in the amount of subscription (KWh/ month). This amount will be credited to your electricity bill form the electricity distribution company. At the end of the month, your subscription amount will be deducted from your electricity consumption from the grid, and you will only pay to the electricity distribution company for the excess electricity consumed.
The DASHBOARD
Once you subscribe to SHAMS-i, you will also gain access to a dashboard displaying all vital consumption data, including financial savings, grid consumption, and solar portion of consumption. Thus, increasing awareness and transperancy.
